2023 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference set to take place on June 21-22 at Stanford, and feature programming headlined by industry leaders from around the country

Annual Pac-12 Team Green event to feature daylong programming with keynote speakers and representatives from the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers and San Jose Earthquakes
 
SAN FRANCISCO - The 2023 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference is set to take place at Stanford University from Wednesday, June 21 through Thursday, June 22, with Pac-12 Networks’ and Hall of Fame broadcaster Ted Robinson serving as emcee of the event.
 
The Pac-12 Sustainability Conference will feature a high-level symposium focused on elevating approaches and enhancing sustainability efforts within collegiate athletics departments, designing new collective initiatives and sharing best practices for transforming college sports into a platform for environmental progress. Speaker and Programming Highlights
 
  • Marc Tessier-Lavigne: Pioneering neuroscientist, biotechnology executive and President of Stanford University will present an opening keynote address.
  • Dr. Jessica Murfree: Visiting Assistant Professor and ACES Faculty Fellow from Texas A&M University will present her keynote address on the effects of climate change on sport, namely the social and legal implications of extreme weather and climate risks, and environmental injustices faced by historically marginalized groups in sport and recreation.
  • Chris Dickerson: Former MLB outfielder and Co-Founder of “Players for the Planet” will deliver the closing keynote address which covers the incomparable power athletes have in channeling their influence towards eco-consciousness in ways which inspire the present and future of sports toward environmental stewardship.
  • Representatives from the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers and San Jose Earthquakes are slated to talk about how they prioritize sustainability at their respective venues to give back to the community.
  • Select student-athletes from Oregon State, Stanford and Utah will share how they work to enhance sustainability initiatives across their respective campuses.
  • The Pac-12’s Zero Waste Challenge award winners for football and basketball will be honored.
