Three More Dawgs Selected; Total Of 10 Huskies Selected In 2024 NFL Draft

Apr 27, 2024

Three more Washington football players were selected on the third and final day of the 2024 NFL Draft. In all, 10 Huskies were selected, tying the school record in the seven-round era (1994-present).

Edefuan Ulofoshio was selected by Buffalo in the fifth round, with Dominique Hampton going to the Washington Commanders just one pick later. In the seven round, Devin Culp was drafted by Tampa Bay.

On Thursday, a school-record-tying three Huskies went in the first round: QB Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta, 8th overall), WR Rome Odunze (Chicago, 9th), and OL Troy Fautanu (Pittsburgh, 20th). Yesterday, four more were selected: WR Ja'Lynn Polk (New England) and OL Roger Rosengarten (Baltimore) in the second round, and DE Bralen Trice (Atlanta) and WR Jalen McMillan (Tampa Bay) in the third.

Twice before, in 1983 and 1992, 11 UW players were selected in a single draft, but in both of those years, the draft was 12 rounds long, rather than the current seven. On both occasions, four of the 11 were selected in rounds 8-12.

Ulofoshio, a linebacker from Las Vegas, by way of Anchorage, Alaska, joined the UW program as a walk-on in 2018. It didn't take long for him to earn a scholarship and a regular spot in the lineup. In 2020, he was honorable mention All-America, but then saw his 2021 and 2022 seasons shortened due to injury.

In 2023, Ulofoshio helped captain the Huskies, earning second-team All-America, when he was second on the team with 94 tackles.

Hampton, a safety from Phoenix, also spent six seasons at UW, appearing in all but three games over the last five seasons (and in four games as a true freshman in 2018). Last fall, he led the Huskies with 109 tackles and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12.

Culp, a tight end from Spokane, Wash., was also a member of the same class as Ulofoshio and Hampton, and also played in all but three games over the past five seasons. A two-time Academic All-District selection, Culp caught 66 passes during his UW career.
