USC Rowing Finishes Dexter Lake Invitational

LOWELL, ORE. – The USC women's rowing team finished racing at the Dexter Lake Invitational on April 27 on the waters of the Dexter Reservoir. USC entered four boats in the invitational: the Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Eight, and Third Varsity Eight. The Second Varsity Eight finished first, the Third Varsity Eight finished second, and finally, the Varsity Eight and the Varsity Four finished fourth.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

  • The Varsity Four kicked off the invitational for the Trojans and came in at 7:32.89 for fourth place, three seconds behind Gonzaga, with their time being 7:29.59.
  • The Second Varsity Eight was next on the water for the Trojans. Sophomore Ellen Ariathurai coxed the Women of Troy to first place at 6:37.9. UCLA was four seconds behind with a time of 6:41.19.
  • The Varsity Eight finished in fourth place for USC at 6:33.31. Oregon State preceded the Trojans in third place, with a time of 6:32.66.
  • The Third Varsity Eight finished the day for the Trojans, coming in second place at 7:06.51. USC was six seconds off of first place UCLA, with their time being 7:00.2. 

TROJAN BOATS

  • So. Sage Saperstein coxed for the Varsity Four. Michaela Banta, Kristin George, and Szonja Balazs filled the boat with Abbie Diemer in the bow seat. 
  • Fr. Ellen Ariathurai coxed for the Trojan's Second Varsity Eight. Grace Eamer sat the stroke seat for the Trojans. Chloe Amling, Chiara Meakin, Isabella Korellis, Clare Widzgowski, Isabella Lysaker, and Julia Karten, followed by Alex DeLisle, succeeded in the stroke seat.
  • Sr. Eden Cooper-Squires coxed for the Varsity 8+. In the stroke seat was Celia Marino. Following Marino were Ingrid Brast, Grete Alttoa, Zoe McCutcheon, Annabel Aron, Amy Clare Naughton, Anastasiia Slivina, and in the bow was Raquel Rodriguez.  
  • So. Sofia Cabrera coxed for the Trojan's Third Varsity Eight. Martina Scarpello sat the stroke seat for the Trojans. Evita Franckevica, Rhese Abrams, Sasha Henry, Anna Molnar, Regan Mary Cronin, Tala Ransweiler, and Lauren Donnelley succeeded in the stroke seat.

"Today was a fantastic display of what this team can accomplish," said Interim Head Coach Martina Vlatkovic. "Coming out of the Ivy League Invite, we wanted to show what this team is capable of, and we did just that. 
 
We look forward to the next three weeks to build on these solid results and have a stellar performance at the Pac-12 Championships."
