Apr 28, 2024

LOS ANGELES - In its regular season finale, UCLA Track and Field concluded competition in the annual dual meet against USC on Sunday, falling to the Trojans with scores of 99-60 on the men's side and 85-74 on the women's side.

USC hosted the meet from Saturday, April 27, to Sunday, April 28 at the Colich Throws Center in Wilmington, Calif. and at Loker Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. The men's and women's hammer and discus events took place at the Colich Throws Center on Saturday with the rest of the meet events taking place at Loker Stadium on Sunday.

In the field events, competitors in the women's and men's hammer events on Saturday landed on UCLA's Outdoor All-Time Top 10 list. Junior Jillian Stafford improved on her PR mark set last week at the Mt. SAC Relays, throwing 61.47m (201-08.00) in the women's hammer to claim the ninth spot on UCLA's Outdoor All-Time Top 10 list and placed second in the event. Finishing second on the men's side, junior Kris Emig was able to surpass his mark also set last week at the Mt. SAC Relays, sitting fifth on the Outdoor All-Time list in the event (68.46m, 224-07.00).

Two Bruins also broke all-time UCLA vs. USC dual meet records on Sunday. Placing first in the women's javelin, graduate student Federica Botter's mark (56.45m, 185-02.00) surpassed Irina Stasiulionyte (55.30m, 181' 5") of USC's mark previously set in 2002. Junior Mia Kane's 9:55.44 took home the event victory in the women's 3000m, breaking Emma Tavella of UCLA's record set in 2023 (9:56.94).
