May 5, 2024
Lagi Quiroga hits home run No. 16 on Sunday at Levine-Fricke FIeld.

BERKELEY – Lagi Quiroga hit her 16th home run of the season but the No. 19 California softball team fell, 6-5, to Oregon State in the final Pac-12 game at Levine-Fricke Field on Sunday afternoon.

Quiroga moved into a tie with teammate Elon Butler for the conference home run crown and Tatum Anzaldo recorded two hits for the Golden Bears (36-16, 9-13 Pac-12). Lici Campbell hit a 3-run home run for the Beavers (21-28, 9-15 Pac-12).

After Oregon State scored a run on an RBI single in the first inning, the Bears got it right back on Quiroga's leadoff solo shot. Cal took the lead in the inning when Acacia Anders tied the single season program record with her 18th double to bring around Anzaldo.

Leading 3-1 going into the sixth, the 3-run Campbell home run gave the Beavers their first lead and started a wild final two frames. Mika Lee gave Cal the lead back in the home half of the frame, lacing a 2-run double with two outs to make it 5-4.

Oregon State was able to rally again in the seventh, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a fielder's choice to go up 6-5 as the Bears went down in order to close the game.
