Women’s gymnastics coverage returns to ESPN and Pac-12 Networks, headlines 2022-23 winter broadcast schedule
Pac-12 Networks also set to air slate of men’s volleyball, wrestling, ice hockey, swim & dive, and rugby matchups
SAN FRANCISCO – With the 2022-23 winter athletic season quickly approaching, the Pac-12 Conference announced today the television broadcast slate for women’s gymnastics, men’s volleyball, wrestling, ice hockey, swim & dive, and rugby.
The Pac-12 has also recently announced broadcast schedules for men’s and women’s basketball for the upcoming 2022-23 seasons. More information on the men’s schedule can be found here. More information on the women’s schedule can be found here.
PROGRAMMING/SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS (subject to change)
WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS
- A pair of high-profile regular season meets will be televised live on ESPN2, leading off with a matchup between reigning Pac-12 champion Utah and LSU in Salt Lake City on Friday, January 6 at 6 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. MT. Later in the season, it’s a blockbuster, all-Pac-12 affair as Utah hosts UCLA on Friday, February 3 at 6 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. MT.
- A total of 22 women’s gymnastics competitions are scheduled for broadcast on Pac-12 Networks, including a premiere showdown between Oregon State and UCLA in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 29. Former Olympian Jade Carey earned Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors last season for the Beavers. It’s a new era of leadership for the Bruins, as the seven-time national champions named former California assistant Janelle McDonald as their new head coach earlier in 2022.
- Pac-12 Networks is set to air the 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 18 from Maverik Center in Salt Lake City.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
- Eight men’s volleyball matches are set to air on Pac-12 Networks this season, including a home match for 19-time national champion UCLA against Long Beach State on Thursday, February 9, a rematch of the 2018 NCAA championship contest that took place at Pauley Pavilion.
- USC and UCLA renew their crosstown rivalry twice in three days, with the Bruins hosting on Thursday, April 6 before the teams head to Galen Center on Saturday, April 8. The Bruins went 22-5 last season and advanced to the national semifinals in 2022 while the Trojans capped a 22-7 campaign with an MPSF semifinal appearance.
WRESTLING
- Wrestling coverage on Pac-12 Networks kicks off on Sunday, January 8 with a home competition for Oregon State, as the Beavers welcome Oklahoma State.
- A total of six wrestling competitions are scheduled for broadcast on Pac-12 Networks, including the 2023 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships from Stanford, California on Sunday, March 5.
ICE HOCKEY
- Arizona State ice hockey is featured twice on Pac-12 Networks this season, with both matchups airing live from the Sun Devils’ new multi-purpose venue, Mullet Arena. ASU first takes on 2022 national runner-up Minnesota State on Saturday, January 14 before the second broadcast on Friday, February 24, a match against Alaska-Fairbanks.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SWIM & DIVE
- The 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Swim & Dive Championships are set for Wednesday, Feb. 22-25 in Federal Way, Washington, with live coverage of the competition airing across Pac-12 Networks. Stanford won the conference title in 2022, its fifth league crown in the last six years. The 2023 Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships will take place simultaneously on Wednesday, Feb. 22-25.
- The 2023 Pac-12 Men’s Swimming Championships take place the following week, scheduled for Wednesday, March 1-4 from Federal Way. Cal picked up its fifth-straight league title in 2022.
RUGBY
- The PAC Rugby 7s return to Pac-12 Networks on Saturday, Nov. 12-13. California has claimed the last three PAC Rugby 7s titles and advanced to the national semifinals last season.
