Biehl’s Defensive Player of the Year Honor Highlights Pac-12 Postseason Awards

TUCSON, Ariz. – Seven Wildcats were named to the All-Pac-12 teams announced Tuesday by the conference. Dakota Kennedy, Regan Shockey, and Allie Skaggs were named first-team All-Pac-12 while Carlie Scupin and Aissa Silva were selected to the second-team. Tayler Biehl was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and earned spots on the All-Pac-12 third team and the All-Defensive team. Shockey and Emily Schepp were named the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
 
Biehl becomes Arizona's fifth Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and is Arizona's second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year following Skaggs last season. She is receiving her first career selection to the All-Pac-12 third team and All-Defensive team. The sophomore shortstop finished the regular season with a .977 fielding percentage after committing only four errors and leads the Pac-12 with 103 assists. Offensively, Biehl has blasted six home runs and leads the team with two triples.
 
Shockey earns her first career All-Pac-12 honors as a member of the all-conference first team, the All-Defensive team, and the All-Freshman team. The freshman leads Arizona with a .420 batting average, 74 hits, and eight stolen bases. Her batting average ranks 33rd in the nation and third among all NCAA freshmen. Shockey's 74 hits ranks seventh in Arizona freshman history and is 13th overall and second among NCAA freshmen. As Arizona's starting centerfielder, she finished the regular season with a .979 fielding percentage, committing just two errors. She leads Arizona's outfield with 11 assists and has assisted in two double plays from center field. Shockey has been the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week four times and was named to the NFCA Freshman Top 25 List.
 
Kennedy is a first-team All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive team honoree. This is Kennedy's second first-team all-conference honor and first All-Defensive team nod. Kennedy is seventh in the Pac-12 with 60 hits and ranks 10th in the conference with a .656 slugging percentage. She has hit 10 home runs to rank 13th in the conference and her .516 on-base percentage ranks second in the Pac-12. Defensively, Kennedy has a perfect fielding percentage, and leads Arizona's outfield with 94 putouts with five assists.
 
Skaggs earns a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team for the second-straight year and her third all-conference honor. The senior second baseman leads Arizona with 13 home runs which ranks fourth in the conference and is second on the team with 42 RBI. This season, Skaggs has hit two grand slams and is batting .307. She is tied for the team lead with two triples and ranks 13th in the Pac-12 with a .636 slugging percentage.
 
Scupin is receiving second team all-conference and all-defensive team honors for the first time in her career. Scupin is leading the team and is second in the conference with 52 RBI which ranks 32nd in the NCAA. She ranks ninth in the Pac-12 with 11 home runs and 15th with a .611 slugging percentage. Defensively, the first baseman recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage during the regular season and leads the team with 322 putouts. During her career, Scupin has tallied 1,119 putouts to rank 10th in program history.
 
Silva has been named second-team All-Pac-12 for the first time in her career. She leads Arizona and the conference with 21 victories which ranks 14th in the NCAA. She is the first Wildcat since 2019 to record a 20-win season. Silva leads Arizona with 99 strikeouts and a 2.99 ERA.
 
Schepp is receiving All-Freshman honors. She has tallied 39 hits, seven doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 29 RBI this season. Her 39 hits rank fifth on the team and third among Pac-12 freshmen.
