LOS ANGELES - The No. 19 Stanford Cardinal are the 2024 Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament champions after topping No. 24 Colorado, 11-8 on Saturday afternoon. This is Stanford’s fourth Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament title after the Cardinal were crowned in 2018, 2021 and 2022, and the third time the Cardinal won both the regular season and tournament crowns (2021 & 2022 (co-champion)). Stanford will receive the Pac-12’s automatic bid to the 29-team NCAA Tournament, which begins Friday, May 10, and is set to make its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Rylee Bouvier sparked a 3-0 run for Stanford, putting the Cardinal on the board with 11:20 left the first with her 17th goal of the season. Eve Hritzuk received a nice pass from Emily Dodd as the Buffaloes got on the board, and Rachel Kennedy added to the total roughly 20 seconds later to make it 3-2 after one.

Kennedy tied things up at 3-3 to start the second off an assist from Ashley Stokes. However the Cardinal responded as Jay Browne found Sarah Jaques streaking through the eight meter for the 4-3 Stanford lead with 13:01 left in the first half. Following a Browne goal to make it 5-3 Stanford, Stokes cut it to one with 9:33 left in the second. Jordyn Case made it a two-point game to cap off the first-half scoring with the Cardinal up, 6-4.

Maddigan Miller put Stanford up three early in the third, and both defenses forced stop after stop, creating a near 12-minute scoring drought. Aliya Polisky broke through late in the frame to give Stanford its largest lead of the day at 8-4. Hritzuk scored her second of the day with 1:30 left to narrow the deficit at 8-5.

Jaques put the Cardinal back up by four in the fourth, beating the goalkeeper with a shot to the top-left corner with just under 10 minutes left in regulation. Colorado battled back, scoring back-to-back goals from Madeline Pisani and Hritzuk to make it 9-7. Polisky and Ailish Kelly responded with goals of their own, with Kelly’s coming in an empty net. Sydney Zimmerman cut it to three with 24 seconds left, but Stanford forced a late turnover to seal the 11-8 victory.

Hritzuk led all players with three goals, while Dodd had three assists for the Buffaloes. Tournament MVP Browne handed out four assists in the contest. Lucy Pearson had six saves and a .429 save percentage on the day. Danielle Heintz had eight saves.
