No. 19 Cal Secures Final Pac-12 Series

May 4, 2024
Randi Roelling earned her 13th win of the season on Saturday at Levine-Fricke Field.

BERKELEY – Lagi Quiroga's 2-run home run sent the No. 19 California softball team to a 3-1 series-clinching victory over Oregon State in game two of the final Pac-12 series on Saturday at Levine-Fricke Field.

Randi Roelling earned her 13th win of the year in the circle, going 6.2 innings while allowing just two hits for the Golden Bears (36-15, 9-12 Pac-12). Eliana Gottlieb's solo home run paced the Beavers (20-28, 8-15 Pac-12).

As they have done all season long, the Bears used the long ball to get on the scoreboard first when Elon Butler crushed her conference-leading 16th of the season, moving into a tie for fifth on the program's single-season home run list with Haley Woods (2004/06) and Danielle Henderson (2012).

Leading 1-0, Roelling retired the first six Beavers she faced before a bunt single got OSU in the hit column to start the third inning. The Freshman from Modesto retired the next four straight before Gottlieb's blast tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth.

Mika Lee started the fifth with a double and after a foul out, Quiroga hammered her 15th of the year, a no-doubter way over the bleachers in left field to give Cal a 3-1 advantage. Oregon State loaded the bases in the sixth with just one out after an error and two walks, but Roelling got a strikeout and a foul out to escape the jam.

Roelling retired the Beavers in order in the seventh to secure the Bears' second straight conference series.
