Baseball Seedings & Tiebreakers

2.1. Tournament Seeding
The seeding and pairings shall be determined upon completion of the regular season. The won-lost percentage record of the teams in regular season Conference play will determine seeding. This shall apply even in the event one or more teams cannot play its entire Conference schedule. An ineligible team’s record and place in the final standings will be utilized in any tiebreaker situations. The team with the best winning percentage in Conference play will be seeded No. 1, the next best winning percentage in Conference play will be seeded No. 2, and so forth.

2.2. Tie Breakers
Tie breaking procedures for determining all Tournament seeding will be:

2.2.1. Two-Team Tie

Results of head-to-head competition during conference games only. Non conference contests against conference opponents shall not be factored in.
Each team’s Conference record (won-lost percentage) vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular season standings, and then continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.
When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s Conference record (won-lost percentage) against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure), rather than the performance against individual tied teams.
Won-lost percentage against all Division I opponents.
Coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee.

2.2.2. Multiple-Team Tie

Results (won-lost percentage) of collective head-to-head competition during Conference games only. Non-conference contests against Conference opponents shall not be factored in
If more than two teams are still tied, each of the tied team’s Conference record (won-lost percentage) vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular season standings, and then continuing down through the standings, eliminating tied teams with inferior conference records until one team gains an advantage.

When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing Conference records, use each team’s Conference record (won-lost percentage) against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure), rather than the performance against individual tied teams. When the multiple-team tie is reduced to two teams, the two-team tie-breaking procedures will be applied.
