  • Slashed .583 / .667 / 1.583 in a road series win for the Utes at Arizona State, the team's 4th of the season and first over ASU since a sweep in 2017
  • Homered in all 3 ASU games for a weekend total of 4 long balls, including 2 in a come-from-behind rubber game victory
  • Had multiple hits in all 3 games, capped with a 3-for-4 line in the rubber game where he walked twice and also was intentionally walked 2 more times
  • Clarkson's 1st homer on Sunday brought the Utes within a run to trail 4-3 in the 3rd inning. Then in the 6th, his 2-run shot on the first pitch put the team in front for good
  • Put on this performance about 25 minutes away from his hometown of Gilbert, Arizona
  • Has raised his batting average from just .115 during the WSU conference-opening series to now .254
  • 2nd time he has won this award (2023 - March 6) and the only Utah player to earn this honor in the last 7 seasons

» 1 GS, 1-0, CG, 9.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 3 H, 0 ER, 8 K,  0 BB, 8.0 K/9, 0.33 WHIP on 82 pitches

  • Tossed a "Maddux" (CG shutout, 9.0 IP with less than 100 pitches) in Utah's series-opening win at Arizona State, a 10-0 victory that saw Van Sickle allow just 3 hits, walk nobody and strike out 8 en route to an 82-pitch performance (61 strikes)
  • Threw the only CG in the Pac-12 this weekend and the 4th in the conference this season
  • First complete game by a Utah pitcher since 2022 and the first CG shutout since 2016
  • First "Maddux" in the Pac-12 since 2018:  Washington State's Scotty Sunitsch at Oregon (4/8/18) and Washington's Joe DeMers vs UC Riverside (2/24/18) which were both no-hitters
  • Did not allow the leadoff batter to reach base in all 9 innings, and did not allow an ASU runner into scoring position
  • His 82 pitchers to 29 batters faced (2 over the minimum) put ASU batters at an average of just 2.82 pitches per plate appearance
  • Threw first-pitch strikes (including first pitch put in play) 20 times
  • Retired 14 straight Sun Devils to end the game
  • First Utah pitcher to win this award since Matthew Sox in 2022 (April 25)
  • First time since joining the Pac-12 has Utah won the conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards in the same week
  • 3rd time this season and 2nd straight week that 1 school has swept both awards.  Oregon State swept both of the previous times this season (Feb. 26, April 8)
